AI trends that people are *actually* using on social

It’s a truth universally acknowledged that AI has been a huge disruptor to the tech space. While we’re on record that AI is NOT replacing creativity, there’s no denying it will fundamentally change how we live and work. We’re already seeing it across industries, with PWC’s Emerging Technology Survey finding that 73% of U.S. companies have already adopted AI in at least some areas of their business.
A lot of that adoption has to do with things like improving efficiencies and automating tasks, but in the digital strategy space, a lot of people are jumping to conclusions and assuming AI is going to eventually be the source of all the content we consume. Is that really the case?
It’s true that AI is going to fundamentally shake up content, and therefore the entertainment landscape at large. In fact, a recent Influencer Marketing Hub Report found that 44% of professionals surveyed have used AI for content production. And you may have heard Nina Schick (adviser, speaker, and AI thought leader) make the incredibly bold prediction that 90% of online content will be generated by AI by 2025. It’s a baseless hot take, but it’s still making the rounds in clickbait headlines.
Many of the people making these bold statements aren’t considering how everyday people are using AI, and the ways that their current appetite for it might inform future use, so that’s what we’re diving into today. What follows is four current trends and what you should take away from them, which is mainly that AI is still emergent and will be for some time.
