Bold bravery or quiet courage, this playlist gives you the boost you need

**Here at M.T. Deco, we want you to not only thrive in business and life, but we want to help you find the tools that work for you to do that. Welcome to our second monthly playlist, curated by M.T. Deco friend & fan, Lissie Jacobson, a one-woman music library. Let this be the soundtrack for your work days, while you’re out for a walk, or going for a drive. Below, Lissie shares her full list and the inspiration behind her choices, and the lyrics that totally spoke to her. **

This month’s playlist led me on such a journey! At first, it was all fist-pumpin’, head bangin’ jams. The ones that really get you through the tough decisions. When you need all the energy and bravery available to you -- friends, family, good songs- everything! But eventually, it led me down a different path, the path of subtle strength. Sometimes, even the smallest decisions can fill you with pride and urge you to press on. Bold Bravery vs. Quiet Courage. I love that lyrics and music can tell all sorts of stories. I hope you enjoy these tales of bravery and words of encouragement -- whichever path you find yourself on.

Brave- Sara Barielles

“But don't run, stop holding your tongue”

A no-brainer beginning. Let it out, let’s do this!

Have it All- Jason Mraz

“May you always lead from the beating in your chest”

Your ‘gut’ feeling is usually the right one, even if your heart doesn’t agree right away.

Courage to Change- Sia

“You're not alone in all this/You're not alone, I promise”

She’s questioning her own courage, but also offering a helping hand to others- this is where the big decisions become more manageable.

Cecilia And The Satellite- Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness

“For all the places I have been, I'm no place without you”

The journey of having a child is like no other, both extremely courageous and vulnerable.

Third Eye- Florence + The Machine

“I’m the same, I’m the same, I’m trying to change”

The repetition of this lyric definitely mimics life, it takes a lot of time to break a habit and make a change.

Runnin’ Down a Dream- Tom Petty

“I felt so good like anything was possible”

Singing at the top of your lungs in a car down the open road- brings joy and clarity all at once!

Let’s Hurt Tonight- One Republic

“We ain't leaving this room 'til we both feel more”

Relationships are hard, and to face them head on- as they do here- is super powerful.

Fight Song- Rachel Platten

“My power’s turned on/starting now I’ll be strong”

Don’t mistake the quiet, internal courage as any less powerful!

I Want to Break Free- Queen

“God knows, got to make it on my own”

The combination of love and independence can get blurred, every decision to walk away from love is a hard one.

Everytime I Cry - Eva Max

“When the voices get loud, I’m turnin’ em down”

I love the message here, a great perspective of turning bad things into positive ones.

Letter to Lady J- Dispatch

“How long's it been since you open your eyes?”

Inquisitive lyrics are always a favorite - the intention is meant for someone in particular, but you can’t help but ask yourself the same questions.

Little Bird- Annie Lennox

“So I've just got to put these wings to test”

Going out on your own, in any capacity can be thrilling and terrifying, but we’ve ALL got wings.

Mausoleum-Seryn

“We know you’ve got the soul my brother, why you trying to hide?”

This is a good reminder to let your light shine - don’t hold back.

Wild West-Lissie

“But I’m going rogue in the wild, wild west”

Moving across the country, away from family and a life you’ve always known is immensely brave- I feel her here. I’m sure Jamie Finn does as well - we migrated from Wisconsin to the big city years ago.

Brave- Moriah Peters

“Strike the fire so I'll be fearless too”

This is the bold bravery here, feeling empowered and making things happen.

RAIN- Ben Platt

“I know we've both been afraid/But we can't run from the wind and the thunder”

This one makes me think of the quote “It’s not brave if you’re not scared” which sums this up nicely. None of this easy or comfortable, but ultimately it’s all worth it.
